CAUTION / The HERPES VIRUS

<This is the advice that we got from Japan National Department / Written in Japanese, and I translated to let you know the introduction>

Dear KOI dealers ;

IN ORDER TO PROTECT JAPAN AGAINST HERPES VIRUS


We (All Japan NISHIKIGOI SHINKOU KAI) got information from DOF (Department of Fishry Japan). They said that HERPES VIRUS has been found at Israel and a part of U.S.A. who imported KOI from Israel (?) again, and the situation is terrible.
SVC (Spring Virus of Carp) is NOT active for a certain environment and climate, therefore, we can ccontrol this terrible disease by temperature control. But, HERPES is NOT, HERPES is always active even in the hot place such as Southeast Aisa, and once KOI have been suffered by HERPES, 10% of them will die in a short term.
We ordered by DOF to advise all KOI dealers to stop every KOI import from other countries, in order to protect Japanese KOI.

HERPES virs has NOT found in Japan. Therefopre, NO EXACTLY INFORMATION we had, such as how the influenced KOI will be. But, according to the information from other countries,
1) KOI stop swimming
2) Skin problem
3) Scale / Gill damage
4) dead

the problem was found 1) ~ 4). And whatever KOI ( whatever age, sex, size, varieties) are suffered when they attached by HERPES VIRUS.

We must order ;
1> NOT to import any KOI from other countries, continuously.
2> If someone importer KOI from other country, we will NOT accept his all KOI at whatever KOI show.

in order to protect Japanese KOI and these market.

This problem is NOT the problem in some countries', but the problem of whole world.
We need your understanding.
And of course, as soon as we got additional information about HERPES virus, we will let you know.

Please keep shipping "clean" Japanese KOI.. The "TRUST" is the most important. And we must protect our KOI & our customers against from this terrible disease.
